Common Problems with the 2019 Chevrolet Trax

Drivetrain, Transmission Issues:

“Car shifts rough it doesn't shift at all and had no power to go up a very small hill, to be parked in my driveway or carport, at the apartment we live in. This happens on the highway, at red lights and when breaking to stop this has gone on for several days and gotten progressively worse, with time since last Wednesday. The car was just purchased new on August 30, 2019.”

“I have been trying to get the dealer to take this car back since I got it Jan. 11, I told them I did like the way the car performed which is still the case. After receiving a recall notice, I ask the dealer to pick the car up that was July 10th. I didn't get my car back until the 20th after telling me the recall problem was fixed. Then about the end of the month the Dealer called and asked me to bring the car back in for the recall. I told them that they fixed it and then they sad no it wasn't that they just got the parts in.

I was lied to when they had told me on July 10th repair was fixed. I watch children for a living and some time I'm responsible too transport them. I lost 3 children in my care due to lack of transportation, and now I'm suffering a major loss of income because of this, plus the fact the children that I was watching, now have a new caregiver taking care of them. Please help”

Engine Problems:

“Upon acceleration above 40 mph, the car starts studdering with little power on acceleration. Releasing and pressing the accelerator until it starts picking up speed. This behavior worsened as the day went on. I had to put my emergency flashers on, while entering the highway ramp. Then it will pick up speed, just not rapidly as normal behavior on the accelerator. The stabilitrak light came on, the engine light, tread lights. Then it drives normal until the next time.”

“Car lost power and ran rough to the point of shaking even after dealer repairs were attempted and reported as finished.”

“The stable link light came on with the engine light and showed the car symbol with tread lines. This is the second time the stable link came on since my ownership. On accelerating the gas pedal, the car starts to studder, and the engine will not pick up speed on the highway. So cars are held up behind you, until it accelerates slowly to the highway speed limit. Between 44 mph it starts studdering of power. It feels like a safety issue. It has started studdering at 35 mph. I checked for recalls and found a lot of Chevys have this issue, but a different make and model.”

Electrical Problems:

“The instrument cluster failed at approximately 21,100 miles in September of 2022. Every indicator lights up but doesn't function. The radio and reverse camera work sometimes but not for long. The part is on back order. The dealer has no idea when it will arrive. When I drive, I don't know my speed and I don't know if my safety systems are working.”

“For over a year now, I have have issues with electrical problems. Bluetooth ringing, screens blacking out, locks unlocking and locking along with car stalling”

“Its shut off on me twice. Now the radio has shut down blank screen. Came back up after hour driving and shut the car down it came back up but its not clear.”

Brakes Problems:

“The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the brakes failed. When the contact drove at 30 mph, the vehicle in front of the contact made a sudden stop for a vehicle that was making a left turn. The contact engaged the brake pedal and the brake pedal failed to move down to slow the vehicle down, and to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. The contact proceeded and came to a stop when it crashed into the vehicle in the front rear and airbags did not deploy. Seat belts did not lock up. The vehicle was taken to an unknown mechanic. However, the mechanic did not provide the contact a diagnostic for the brake system failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 8,200.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while traveling at an unknown high rate of speed, the brakes failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact crashed into another vehicle due to complete brake failure. The air bags deployed upon impact. The contact sustained injuries to her right hand and her son suffered a severe headache and bruised leg. The contact nor her son sought medical attention. The contact stated inhaled on known fumes or smoke. The other driver did not sustain any injuries. The contact was unsure if a police report was filed. The contact's vehicle was towed to an independent collision center and was destroyed. The dealer nor the manufacturer have been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.”

“The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Trax. While operating the vehicle, the service brake indicator illuminated and the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard while attempting to stop. The vehicle was taken to homewood Chevrolet (18033 halstead St, homewood, il) where it was diagnosed that the brake line had become disconnected and needed to be replaced due to a loose driver's side brake caliper hose bolt. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,500.”
