Common Problems with the 2018 Chrysler 300

2018 chrysler 300 problems

Powertrain, Transmission Issues:

“I started having problems with acceleration, I would go to pull out and the car would choke. When I put my car in reverse I would get an error message telling me to put my car in park and then desired gear. When I did that it would not go into reverse, I would have to shut my car off and then restart it. At time the check engine light would come on and then go off. I attempted to have it checked multiple times but when I got to the dealership it would be off again. I finally was able to get it to the dealer while it was on and was told I needed a new transmission and I would need to bring it in for a full diagnosis. I got it to a transmission shop and had the transmission replaced. When he ordered the transmission and installed it the transmission module was bad. I really feel due to the fact that a brand new transmission had a defective transmission module that the issue is that the model transmission in that car is defective.”

“The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while shifting from park to reverse, the vehicle jerked and surged without warning. The failure also occurred while driving at highway speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 21,000.”

“I have found that going at lower speeds, like accelerating from stop, or driving through a parking lot, the transmission jolts the entire car. Like it is slipping in and out of gear. It also seems to shift really hard into second gear, not all the time but is just getting worse. The vehicle only has 26000 miles on it and has been serviced at the correct intervals. Also electrical issues with the passenger side window motor, it does not want to roll up. This has happened 4 or 5 times in the last 2 weeks. Usb hook up for our phone does not recognize the device, after changing to a different port, still the same result.”

Interior Accessories Problems — Panel For The Passenger Door Is Melting; Screen Delaminating From The Top; Uconnect Sound System Is Not Working; Controls Not Visible With Radio Off.

Electrical System Problems:

“The vehicle's LCD screen has become delaminated which causes the control of the radio, air conditioning, navigation, and other features controlled by the "radio" portion of the car to become dysfunctional. The car will randomly beep, change air temperatures, start navigation, cause the loss of hands-free communication. This is a safety hazard as it causes the driver to be distracted in order to attend to the incessant beeping and issues related to AC/heat, navigation or radio (volume, etc.). This appears from Chrysler Forums to be an issue among a large group of Chrysler 300 Year Model 2018 owners.”

“My car radio is delaminated causing the radio or other controls to not function properly. Buttons are pressed without me touching the screen. Other Chrysler users have the same issues and it’s a safety problem”

“Windshield seams unhinged, the interior panels buckled and unhinged obstructing airbags, and wiper dispenser malfunctions causing poor visibility while driving. I’ve experienced every disappointment and near dangers of uconnect to having the system replaced with the same brand to no avail. I have date stamped pictures depicting the unsafe issues. I even went back to the dealership of purchase to get answers. They confirmed having knowledge of all issues I mentioned but they have done nothing to repair, replace, or provide suggestions.”

Visibility/Wiper Problems:

“Windshield wipers turn on and one swipe of the windshield when turn signal applied, this issue is distracting and dangerous when making a turn, when you don't expect them to come on.”

“Was driving down US highway 19 around 5:30pm 78 out and I heard this loud bang like a shotgun went off in my car. I thought someone hit me from the rear and glass was everywhere. Pulled over and to find out my panoramic sunroof exploded. The sunroof was not open. Took it to dodge and they said that they can't do anything that I have to go through my insurance company. Called Dodge directly and they said the same thing. Looked online and noticed a lot of these are having problems even Jeeps, Chrysler 300, Nissan,Mercedes. Can't believe they would not fix it under warranty. Knowing this issue is getting bigger.”

Air Bag Problems:

“I got my car in May of 2021, and when I was in a car accident in August of 2021, none of the airbags in my car deployed, When i was rear-ended, which caused me to rear end the person in front of me, on the highway in 2022, my airbags also did not deploy, then in April of 2023, the message "Service Air bag System".”

“The contact owned a 2018 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving about 65 mph, the vehicle in front crashed into a stationary vehicle, causing the contact's 'vehicle to stop abruptly and was rear ended by the vehicle behind. As a result, the vehicle then crashed into both crashed vehicles in front. The air bags did not deploy. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The contact's vehicle was totaled and was towed to the contact's residence. A police report was filed. The contact called the clear lake Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (281-310-836, located at 15711 gulf fwy, webster, tx 77598) and was told to call the insurance company. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not do anything. The VIN was not provided. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000. Audio attached. No VIN available.”

“Takata recall airbag did not deploy at 70 mph speed and impact. Car was in motion on highway until it ran off the road into an embankment.”
