Chevy Shake Class Action Filed in California

Way back in October of 2018 I wrote about issues Chevrolet owners were experiencing regarding violent shaking that can occur while driving normally.

Online forums and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) complaints database are flooded with posts alleging that GM’s full-size SUVs, including the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade, all exhibit the same off-putting traits: unexplainable wind buffeting and vibration. Many of the complaints allege that these problems also affect the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra.

On December 19, 2019, a putative class action was filed in California for the same exact issue, alleges GM vehicles suffer severe vibrations because the automaker uses aluminum driveshafts. Those vehicles include:

  • 2015-2020 Cadillac Escalade

  • 2014-2019 Chevrolet Silverado

  • 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban

  • 2015-2020 Chevrolet Tahoe

  • 2014-2019 GMC Sierra

  • 2015-2020 GMC Yukon / Yukon XL

According to the class action complaint, aluminum driveshafts in the trucks cause severe vibrations that cause drivers to lose control of the vehicles. The plaintiffs claim the problem occurs while driving highway speeds, and over time the driveshaft can deteriorate and finally drop to the ground.
