Hyundai Genesis Turbocharger Oil Supply Pipe Recall - Lemon Law

A recall has been issued for over 31,000 Genesis G80, G90, and G70 vehicles to address issues with potentially leaky left turbocharger oil feed pipes.

The July 2019 Genesis turbocharger oil supply pipe issue has been expanded into this Genesis recall.

The 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged engines in the recalled Genesis G80, G90, and G70 models from 2018 to 2020 have left turbocharger oil feed lines that might break and leak oil.

A fire might start from leaking oil that comes into touch with heated engine parts.

Reports of cracks in the turbocharger oil supply pipes of Genesis cars with 3.3L turbocharged engines in Korea and various international markets prompted an ongoing 2023 investigation.

Additionally, Genesis noticed a growing tendency of wintertime turbocharger oil supply pipe repairs.

After extended exposure to the heat of the engine compartment and subsequent cooling or hardening of the pipe material, the automaker discovered that the oil feed pipe material was prone to cracking. The new turbo oil supply pipe material was changed to stainless steel to better handle high ambient temperatures.

At least 81 reports of pipe issues have been received by Genesis; however, no reports of collisions, injuries, or fires have been received.

On May 7, 2024, Genesis will send out recall letters, and dealerships will swap out the left turbocharger oil feed pipes.
