2021 Kia Sorento Refill Inverter Coolant Warning

More than a few owners of 2021-2022 Kia Sorento and Kia Optima owners have been reaching out to Kia / Hyundai to see if they’ve developed a repair for a peculiar defect that’s been occurring often.

Even though the coolant reservoir is full, a warning message on the dash board will pop up saying “REFILL INVERTER COOLANT”.

This is troubling in that, one, any warning message that populates on the dashboard is a scary issue. It wouldn’t pop up if there wasn’t something wrong. Two, these reservoirs are already full, so this would suggest some issue with the sensor checking the reservoir or engine temperature. Everyone knows an engine that runs too hot can suffer catastrophic damage, which isn’t cheap.

Currently, Kia hasn’t issued a Technical Service Bulletin for this issue (all their TSB’s are for the oil consumption issue with the NU, GAMMA, THETA, KAPPA engines - which sounds like a ridiculous fraternity), but I’d expect one soon.
