GM Offers Free Warranty Extension for Select 2023 Vehicles

Many, many moons ago, Valero Law, APC wrote about how sometimes manufacturers will issue Secret Warranties. Heck, even Consumer Reports wrote about them here. They’re free if you own the vehicle. Generally, the manufacturer won’t let tell you about it, mainly because they don’t want to pay the extra money for the engine or transmission they have to replace at no cost to the consumer, but they still issue them in case someone goes to the dealership with a busted component, and they’ve noticed that they’ve been failing (drastically) and prematurely.

Well, General Motors issued a new warranty extension for certain vehicles, namely:

  1. 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

  2. 2023 GMC Sierra 1500

  3. 2023 Chevrolet Silverado

Under the General Motors customer satisfaction program N232415060, the engines in 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, 2023 Chevrolet Colorado, and 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trucks will be replaced for free.

The title of the warranty extension is “Block Main Oil Gallery Hot Core Pin Casting Defect”, GM's customer satisfaction program, and it was introduced after it was found that the engine blocks for the 2023 Chevrolet and GMC vehicles were constructed with cracks. Free engine replacements are available until March 31, 2026.

Now, if you’ve had your engine replaced under this warranty extension, you’re getting a car you didn’t pay for since you’ve already had to replace the engine and, as such, you may be entitled to a repurchase or compensation under the lemon law.

If you're in California and you’ve taken your Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra to a dealership for issues above, from engine failure, engine shaking, engine replacement, or any warranty condition, we can help you….
