GM Makes CarBravo the Sole Channel for Certified Used Cars
General Motors recently announced a significant change to how it sells certified used vehicles in the United States. The automaker will consolidate its certified pre-owned (CPO) sales for Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC under a single platform called CarBravo.
The move reflects the rapid growth of the used-car market and a shift toward online-first car shopping. But while the change may simplify GM’s sales strategy, it also raises important questions for consumers about warranties, vehicle quality, and what “certified” really means.
For decades, most major automakers operated traditional Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) programs. These programs typically limited certification to newer vehicles—often off-lease models that were only a few years old and had relatively low mileage.
GM is now eliminating that traditional structure for most of its brands.
Starting June 2, 2026, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC dealers will sell all certified used vehicles exclusively through the CarBravo platform, making it GM’s only certified used-vehicle channel for those brands.
CarBravo is not entirely new. GM launched it several years ago as an online marketplace designed to compete with companies like CarMax and Carvana. The platform allows customers to shop for vehicles online and complete many parts of the purchase process digitally before visiting a dealer.
However, the new policy goes further by replacing the legacy certified pre-owned program entirely.
While used vehicle cases are harder to bring under California Lemon Law, cars that are purchased through Carbravo as Certified Pre Owned can be brought under the lemon law in California in most cases.
