FORD ISSUES SAFETY RECALL FOR 2015-17 F-150 AND 2017 SUPER DUTY VEHICLES SIDE DOOR LATCHES

Ford is recalling over a million vehicles, including certain 2015-17 Ford F-150 and 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks, to add water shields to side door latches.

The safety recall is due to frozen door latch or a bent or kinked actuation cable in the affected vehicles, that may result in a door not opening or closing.

Affected models:

  • 2015-17 F-150s built at Dearborn, March 12, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2016

  • 2015-17 F-150s vehicles built at Kansas City, Aug. 11, 2014 to Dec. 30, 2016

  • 2017 Super Duty trucks built at Kentucky, Oct. 8, 2015 to Sept. 1, 2016

This isn't the first time Ford is recalling vehicle's due to problematic door latches.  In September of 2016 they recalled over 2 million Focuses, C-Maxes, Escapes, Transits, and Mustangs that had problematic prawl springs.
