2014 and 2015 Chevrolet Equinox & GMC Terrain Oil Consumption

GM has issued two new technical service bulletins for the 2014-2015 Chevrolet Equinox and 2014-2015 GMC Terrain that can attributable to Oil Consumption issues, similar to what we’ve seen with the 2010-2013 Chevrolet Equinoxes and 2010-2013 GMC Terrains. They are as follows:

TSB 20-NA-029 - Subject: Ticking, Tap, or Rattle Noise from Engine

TSB 18-NA-072 - Subject: Reduced Engine Power, Reduced Engine Power Displayed on Driver Information Center (DIC), Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated - DTC P228C

Arguably, this means that there are still systemic issues relating to oil consumption (and other engine issues) in the newer model Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrains. If you’ve had these issues before, it’s best to take it a GMC authorized dealership if you’re still within the powertrain warranty of five years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

If you’re in California and you’ve taken your Equinox or Terrain to a dealership for issues above, from engine stalling, abnormal oil consumption, high pressure fuel pump failure, balance shaft chain failure or engine failure, we can help you….
