Chrysler Pacifica Transmission Problems

2017 Chrysler Pacifica owners are still experiencing issues with the factory equipped transmission installed. Complaints range from harsh shifting, not shifting into park, hesitations, lunges and noise emanating from teh transmission. Chrysler recently researched TSB 18-054-17, which is accessible here.

The TSB, titled “Flash: Powertrain Diagnostic and System Enhancements”. In it, it says:

Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation, a technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) have been set:

  • U1431 - Implausible Data Received From Cruise Control Module.

  • P24B9 - EVAP System Leak Detection Pump Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance.

  • P0300 - Multiple Cylinder Misfire.

  • P1C64-00 - Hybrid Perf Engine Speed Below Target During Autostart

Chevrolet Spark Transmission Problems

Along the same vein of the 2016-2017 Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Cruze piston problems written here, there have been more than a few complaints regarding the 2014-2017 Chevrolet Spark regarding transmission issues. Specifically, the issues revolve around a specfic transmission (RPOs M4M, MR8). Consumers have complained about the Check Engine light being illuminated and the following diagnostic trouble codes

There is a reference to potential TSB named PIP5521A.

Common complaints also include:

Ford recalls about 350,000 F-150s and Expeditions for faulty transmission gears

Ford is recalling about 350,000 trucks for a problem that could cause them to roll even after the driver shifts into park.

The automaker says the issue affects 2018 Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition vehicles with 10-speed automatic transmissions, as well as Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmissions.

Ford says a piece of equipment on the affected vehicles can become dislodged over time, which means the car won't be in the gear that it looks like it's in, such as park.

This means that if the driver shifts the car into park, the car might not actually be in park — and there would not be a warning message to indicate that. If he or she doesn't use a parking brake, Ford says the vehicle could roll.

Ford says it's aware of one reported accident and injury.

The company is also recalling more than 100 other vehicles for a missing transmission roll pin. If the pin is missing, the company says that the transmission on those vehicles might eventually lose the ability to park, even if the driver shifts the car into that gear.

Ford says that problem affects around 160 of the 2017 and 2018 Ford F-150s, 2018 Ford Expeditions, 2018 Lincoln Navigators and 2018 Ford Mustangs with 10R80 transmissions.

2007-2012 GMC Acadia problems

After talking to a few owners of 2007-2012 GMC Acadia's, I've found that there have been an abnormally high amount of complaints regarding several components, namely the transmission (specifically, 3-5-R waveplate), steering, timing chain and water pump.  Thankfully, GMC has issued the following free warranty extensions:

  1. #14404: Special Coverage Adjustment - Transmission Clutch Wave Plate (10 years / 120,000 miles)
  2. #14329B: Special Coverage Adjustment – Loss of Power Steering Assist (10 years / 150,000 miles)
  3. #13079: Customer Satisfaction – Water Pump Shaft Seal Leaks (10 years / 120,000 miles)
  4. #12313D: Special Coverage – Engine Balance Chain and Fuel Pump (10 years / 120,000 miles)

The warranty extensions cover different vehicles and different model years, though, so you're going to want to click on the links above to see if your vehicle is covered.
